don't be in such a hurry...
here i sit. trying to be patient.
only 4 days until a week long vacation begins.
only 4 days until we leave texas soil and arrive in...
HAWAII!!!!!!!!!!
it's tuesday night and my brain is already acting like it is saturday. this work week is dragging!!! but it will be oh-so-worth every minute!
so i've been to hawaii before. a best friend from high school - keri - invited me to go with her and her parents on a cruise around the hawaiian islands! the trip was over christmas break our senior year.
also during christmas break was soccer practice. the high school soccer season in texas starts in january so practice over the holidays is very important. during one of the first days of practice over the break, i was making a run towards the goal and rolled my ankle... sure, that doesn't sound so bad. people roll their ankles all the time, right?
my ankle rolled. my knee followed. i thought that i had dislocated my knee because of the way it popped when i hit the ground.
to make that long story short, 3 days before we left for hawaii, i blew out my knee... i tore my ACL in half, tore my MCL, and tore the meniscus.
3. days. before. hawaii.
keri and her parents still took me to hawaii even though i asked her to take someone else. someone else that would be able to walk, to run, to climb, to swim... to do all of the things you are supposed to be able to do as a tourist in hawaii. i was on crutches the entire time and at times, they even pushed me around in a wheelchair. needless to say, neither of those made it easy to manuever in the hallways of the cruise ship. but by no means was the trip ruined by my 2 extra legs or the 2 wheels - we still had amazing time that i will never forget!! heart ya, keri!! :)
all of this to say, i really can't wait for my 2nd trip to hawaii. i can't wait for this big trip with donal and our friends - nathan and rachel. i can't wait to be able to do the touristy activities that i missed out on before and i can't wait to tell you all about it! and most of all, i can't wait to show you all about it... in my pictures!!! this will be the first big trip that donal and i have ever been on together. well, other than our annual ski trips to colorado. this flight will be 8 hours long - we shall see how the always-active donal does on this long flight! a few spoonfuls of benadryl drowsy may be in store! ;)
